I was saddened to hear that George Snellenberger, one of the giants of our game, has passed. When I was a kid and my dad first took me out to a trap field, George was an idol of mine. When he and his daughter Jacque first started coming to Illinois to shoot, I was intimidated by him and never approached him. I finally worked up the nerve and introduced myself and found George to be a gregarious fellow who loved to tell stories about the good old days. I was like a sponge and soaked up all the information I could get from him. It just will not be the same without him around. Jacque you have my deepest condolences. He was truly one of a kind.

I am happy to announce that we have 2 new members of the Illinois State Trapshooting Hall of Fame. Steve Johnson and Barry Roach will be inducted into the HOF on Tuesday night of the state shoot in June. Both of them are good men that I am proud to call my friends. Congratulations to both of you.

Finally, I have some milestones to report. Dan Gale has shot 25,000 Singles and Janice Rigler and Brent Ausbrook have shot 50,000 targets. Janice reached it in Doubles and Brent reached it in Handicap.

Shoot well and support your local club.

Bill Duncan, ATA Delegate
